What we get up to.
Days out and local Parks
A stroll along the river to the park is always a lovely outing. There is so much to see and do along the way, from seeing the ducks to collecting leaves, stones and feathers. The riverside park is ideal for the nursery children as the play equipment suits all their development needs for running, climbing and interacting with each other.
At Christmas time it’s always lovely to have visitors, especially when it’s from Father Christmas himself. He makes himself right at home with the children, sitting down with a mince pie or two, he tells tales and talks to the children about their Christmas wishes making it a truly magical experience. He may even hand out a few gifts!
We are very fortunate to be right next door to the police station and take regular trips to visit them. The children like nothing better than to climb into the car and sound the siren.
Halloween party in the Nursery, with our friends from Llangollen Cylch Meithrin. The children enjoyed spooky games, songs and hunt the ghost in the garden, and of course party food.
Visiting the Local Library.
The children really enjoy visiting the local library where the librarians love to read them stories and sing rhymes. Here the children can look at all the books and pick a few each week to take back to the nursery with us.
Craft activities are part of our daily routine, we have designated areas for children to sit and be creative as well as areas for messy play, sand and water, construction, maths and literacy.
At the heart of the town we are surrounded by nature and love to take the children out on short walks to discuss the changing of the seasons, and collect natural resources for our specific topics and themes for craft. We have the river walk where we can see and feed the ducks, collect different leaves and play in the play park. Just over the bridge we have the train station where we can see the steam trains and hear them regularly from our own garden. The canal has a small dipping pond in the marina where we go to view the frogspawn in the spring. A short walk up from the nursery we have Plas Newydd where there is an abundance of nature in the plants and flowers, we can observe birds and insects and use the small stream for pond dipping.
Whilst we follow the curriculum of the foundation phase the children have a balance of adult led activities such as circle time where we sing rhymes, discuss the weather and days of the week and read favourite story books with free play where the children can choose their own play from a variety of resources all at child height, have access to the outdoors with sand, water and messy play and ride on toys.
